Lab Animal Infusion

Large Animal Tethered

Tethered infusion systems utilize a pump mounted outside the cage to prevent animal access, allowing for easy modifications to the dosing solution or administration rate. The animal is connected to the external pump via a tether and swivel, enabling free movement within the cage or pen. This system is particularly advantageous for large animal studies, as the pump is shielded from animal interference.

Compared to ambulatory infusion systems, tethered infusion facilitates the administration of larger volumes, simplifies syringe and pump setting changes, and reduces the risk of damage to sensitive and costly pumps. It also minimizes the need for human intervention, with some systems allowing remote monitoring and control from outside the animal room.

Tethered Infusion System for Rabbits

Create a safe and reliable rabbit tethered infusion system.

Due to their small size, finding a suitable pump for ambulatory infusion studies in rabbits can be challenging. As a result, tethered infusion models are commonly used. Tethered infusion simplifies the administration of large volumes and allows for quick and easy syringe changes and pump adjustments. A common rabbit tethered infusion configuration, shown here, accommodates the majority of protocols. We can assist you in selecting the best options for catheters, catheter access, pumps, and more based on your specific requirements.

Tethered Infusion System for Pigs

Dose large volumes with ease, with our tethered infusion systems for swine models.

Tethered infusion simplifies the dosing of large volumes while significantly reducing the risk of pump damage by keeping the pump separate from the pig. This approach is especially useful for studies requiring precise control over dosing and pump maintenance. However, for studies involving group housing, ambulatory infusion serves as an excellent alternative. It not only allows animals to move freely within a group but also provides easy access to the pump for syringe changes and adjustments to pump settings. The standard pig tethered infusion configuration shown here supports most protocols. Our expert team is ready to help you choose the best options for catheters, catheter access systems, pumps, and more, tailored specifically to your study’s requirements.

Tethered Infusion System for Dogs

Dose large volumes with ease, with our tethered infusion systems for canines.

Compared to ambulatory studies, tethered infusion simplifies the administration of large volumes and allows for quick and easy syringe changes and pump adjustments. Tethered Infusion System for NHPs

Build a primate infusion system that supports animal welfare and protects research staff.

An increasing number of researchers are adopting ambulatory infusion studies in primates, and in some regions, regulations mandate group housing for non-human primates (NHPs). However, there are instances where ambulatory infusion is not feasible. In such cases, tethered infusion offers a practical alternative, simplifying the administration of large volumes and enabling quick and easy syringe changes and pump adjustments. Regardless of the method, primate studies prioritize creating a safe and healthy environment for both the animals and the researchers. While a standard primate tethered infusion configuration is shown here, our team can assist you in selecting the most suitable options for your protocol, including catheters, access systems, pumps, and more.
