Supplies for ITT and GTT Studies

In this study design, a loading dose of glucose (gtt) or insulin (itt) is followed by intermittent blood sampling. The dose is typically administered orally, and since multiple blood samples are needed, an access port is the best tool to make catheter access quick and easy.

Supplies for Hyperinsulinemic-Euglycemic Clamp Studies

This protocol uses an IV infusion of insulin to set a baseline, as well as variable rate infusion of glucose (into the same IV line). It’s also common to incorporate an additional channel for IV dosing of an experimental compound. Intermittent blood sampling determines the impact of the drug administration on the rat.
